Stepney Bicentennial Celebration
June 10-11, 2023
The Save Our Stepney Task Force (SOS) in celebration of the Town of Monroe’s Bicentennial will host a Stepney Bicentennial Celebration June 10-11, 2023 Saturday, 1:00-7:00pm and Sunday, 2:00-6:00pm on the Stepney Green, Main Street, Monroe, CT.

Discover 18 sites throughout Stepney, Connecticut where military militias trained, fine carriages were made, people protested the Civil war, and where generations of leaders have been interned.
We invite you to travel the Stepney Heritage Trail and to learn more about our local Stepney history. Individual sites have been marked either with a freestanding site marker or an oval building marker for easy identification. These markers will help you identify the significant architecture and history of Native Americans, colonists, immigrants, and other ethnic groups that are a part of the community’s history.

The Stepney Green, located on Main street Monroe, at the intersection of routes 25 and 59 and serves as an outdoor gallery in which to display the public art. The first of three exhibitions features the work of Ziggy Bober, sculptor, muralist and painter from Norwalk, Connecticut.
